While summer is the time for fun & sun, Autumn is the time to hang out and fully invest in the friendships you have. One of the best ways to create memories and enjoy friendships is by food… ‘cause everyone knows that the way to anyone’s heart is through food. One new dinner party trend that we’re loving is the Autumn farm to table dinner. We’ve entered harvest season and one of the most delicious ways to enjoy is by eating the food that is in season. Host a farm to table dinner for your friends… and don’t worry, we’ve gotten all the details taken care of. See below. :)
Food
With this dinner, you want to cook what is in season! Go to a local farmer’s market or a community garden and buy fresh produce there. Depending on where you live, these fruits and veggies are usually in season during autumn: apples, beets, broccoli, brussels sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, celery, chicory, fennel, figs, garlic, grapes, mushrooms, leeks, onions, shallots, pears, parsnip, sweet potatoes, radishes, and squash.
Decorations
If the weather is night, celebrate the beauty of Fall by hosting an outdoor dinner. Grab long tables or a few picnic tables and connect them for your family style meal. For your centerpiece, find some gold candelabras like this at a thrift store (need help thrifting? Check out our tips here). If they don’t come in gold, use spray paint! Fill the middle of the table with leafy greens and set your dishes along the length of the table. Hang fairy lights from nearby trees, or, if you have a pergola intertwine them where you can.
